.ebuild to PKGBUILD

what about a script that translates ebuilds from Pygoscelis papua to Arch's PKGBUILD's?

(in my eyes, it's more logical than trying to translate already built pkgs from other distros)

I'd say that's near impossible. Ebuilds have lots of nifty functions, like importing other ebuilds, and it would be a huge mess.

I think you could do it by hand though. Make a PKGBUILD and use the ebuilds as reference. Like copy some of the compiling parts, etc.

But you couldn't just do a strait convert, because things like dependencies might be different. Plus, ebuilds separate the building parts more. They also have things like USE tags which complicate the process.

They also install directly to the filesystem.
