Frequency scaling on intel core 2 duo e8400

I am trying to use frequency scaling for my intel core 2 duo e8400 but when i modprobe acpi-cpufreq I get a message "No such device". What is the correct module for this cpu?

Re: Frequency scaling on intel core 2 duo e8400

Perhaps this is because the chip you have is a new 45nm part or because of a BIOS issue. I'm using the acpi-cpufreq driver with my CPU (Core 2 based Xeon) and have no problems, but it's a 65nm part.

Re: Frequency scaling on intel core 2 duo e8400

You don't boot Arch with the kernel param noacpi, do you?
I personally don't have any problems with my T7250 at all.

Re: Frequency scaling on intel core 2 duo e8400

Im having this similar problem with my e8400. It used to scale down to 2ghz as i have set it up. But when i overclocked my e8400 to 3.6Ghz it stopped working.  And my bios detect my cpu as newone when when i changed the cooler before i overclocked.
So im not sure is it about the bios of detecting "new hardware" or the overclock setup i think that ill run it back with defaults once and see what are the results. Happens now with 2.6.33-> kernel atleast.

Re: Frequency scaling on intel core 2 duo e8400

Runs without any problems when i set default clocks and let the bios decide. So it wont run at overclocked ?
