LinuxTracker.org recently updated their site and removed all torrents including Arch. From the bottom of the news page:
We'd like to welcome you to the new LinuxTracker.org. Please note that over the coming weeks, the look and feel of the site will be changing slightly as we get used to the new diggs. If you notice anything out of sorts, or anything that could use some improving please let us know. You can check the status of the To Do List in the forums.
Please note the Announce URL has changed to http://linuxtracker.org:2710/announce
Any torrent you had uploaded previously, needs to be remade with the new announce code and reuploaded.
Some new Arch torrents have been created but there are no seeders. Please seed if you can: Arch Linux Torrent Files at LinuxTracker
Also, the Get Arch torrent files should be updated to reflect these changes.
Update: All Arch torrents with the updated tracker have now been uploaded.

Downloading and seeding...

I will start downloading this in a few hours, and I will seed it at least through this weekend.

For some strange reason I can't seed, but only download. It's very rare that I manage to seed, and when it happens it's not that fast. Is that a common problem, am I missing something?

Just started downloading / seeding the torrents from LinuxTracker.
Are the GetArch Torrents the same, or should I download and seed them, too ?

I think the seeding is depending on how much people are actually downloading the iso's.

Heh, now that the download is completed, the seed has stopped as well. Is that normal behavior?

ar you behind a router?
have you forwarded the connection port in the router to the computer?

I am behind a router, but seeding worked fine until the download was not complete.
Do I need to forward a special port to keep seeding after download?

You need to forward the port configured in your bittorrent client. Port forwarding is common practice and many information can be found via Google.
I think I can explain the behavior you are experiencing: When you were still downloading the torrent you connected to other peers - you don't need to forward a port to do this. After establishing a connection with these peers (more accurately put in this case - leechers) they connected to your machine and grabbed pieces of the files they missed and thus you were seeding the file. When you finished downloading the file from these leechers the connection was closed and nobody could connect to your machine anymore since no port was forwarded.
Good luck.

OK, thanks for the explanation ido ![]()
I know how to forward ports, now I just need to find out which ports are needed by rtorrent and I'm sorted.

I happen to use rtorrent as well, great client. You need to specify the port for rtorrent in the ~/.rtorrent.rc file.
Good luck, Ido.

Why is there no ftp Arch64 torrent?

Why is there no ftp Arch64 torrent?
because I think u can use the i686 ftp installer to install arch64 through ftp. They really have it named wrong, it should be just a ftp installer for 686 and x86_64 bit arch. If you use the ftp installer, all u need to do is point pacman to the arch64 repository and u will have a 64 bit install.

I'll seed all three torrents whenever possible...
By the way, judging by the download statistics it looks like x86_64 core torrent is by far the most popular. Interesting. Go Arch64!

But doesn't the x86_64 ftp installer point to the 64-bit repos by default? And would the 32-bit ftp installer have the aes_x86_64 kernel module needed for a luks encrypted install?

by default yes, but its not hard to get a x86_64 out of a i686 ftp install. All u need is an updated mirror list for pacman I believe, someone can correct me if I am wrong.

But the point is that it is also an official installation medium that does not have a torrent. Maybe in the future the developers will combine the ftp isos, but for now they are separate and it should have a separate torrent as well.
