I've been thinking about making some setup scripts (I think bash will be best suited for this) that I can use to re-install arch or install arch on new machines when I need to..
I think I have an idea and was wondering if someone can post me their script or possible send it to me via email so I have something to work off of?
I'm assuming all I would need to do is make a script (installscript.sh) that echos pacman -S package1 package2 ... etc etc. Is this the right way to do it? Any help or tips on this would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks in advance... ![]()

and probably others (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cat … English%29)
The script newarch on the Quick_Custom_Installation page is an old version of what is now used in larch, so you could also have a look at the bits in larch concerned with the initial installation. They try to do a bit more than you might want, so they are maybe not as simple as you are looking for. If you get larch-5 from svn look for the scripts inpacs and mklarch.

First of all, Thank you for the speedy response... as always on this forum you guys know your stuff and are quick to respond. However, I was looking for a script, after I have done a complete base install of arch and I am at the CLI, to do all the pacman -Syu, getting xorg, python, perl, etc etc etc. Anyone have some info for me on that? Perhaps, a script someone has made that I can have or take a look at a snippet?? Thanks again!

Why do you need a script if all you want to do is 'pacman -S xorg python etc etc'?

maybe to update rc.conf auto updating xorg.conf and all the small things u need to do to get everything working maybe.
I mean there are lot of manual stuff which you need to do after you do a pacman -Sy xorg python etc etc isnt it?
I know that is Arch philosophy but if you have to do multiple install or do a quick basic install which you always want , it is a little PIA
