webcam issue

hey there.. is there any alternative to using the gspca module? gspca is only crashing, freezing, kernel panics all teh time..

lsusb gives me a:
Bus 005 Device 004: ID 0ac8:c002 Z-Star Microelectronics Corp.
for my webcam..

but couldnt finde any other modules suitable for that cam! any help would be great!

thats a great question, i have no idea, since its buildin in my sony vaio i really dunno, couldn't find anything where that was pointed out...

EDIT: in the original sony driver package for windows there is the driver for VGP-VCC1, so this should be the one smile

From what I can tell, the gspcav1 module might be the only one support it, it is in the extra repository.

yes, gspcav1 supports it, but produces one kernel panic after the other.. when i just wanna take a pic i get a kernel panic wink so i'm looking for something else than gspca!

It isn't a documented chipset, so making drivers isn't easy, all you can really do is talk to the developers of the gspcav project, maybe they can figure out why it is crashing and fix it.
