Since yesterday, Thunar has been slow.
arch ~ $ time thunar
real 10m23.580s
user 0m0.397s
sys 0m0.077sIs anyone else having this problem?
I started with gnome and added xfce @ 2 weeks ago. Nautilus speed is fine.
arch ~ $ time nautilus

I use xfe4 too, but I don't have this issue.
My Thunar is fast as he should be.

tigrmesh:
Are you using some custom icon theme? Some of them (buggy ones) may lead to random crashes or performance degradation.

if you '/etc/rc.d/network stop' for whatever reason, you'll get the same issue. that's why it may have been solved with a reboot.

@bangkok_manouel - That's it!
Look at the difference:
arch ~ $ time thunar
real 0m11.622s
user 0m0.743s
sys 0m0.203s
arch ~ $ sudo /etc/rc.d/network stop
Password:
:: Stopping Network [DONE]
arch ~ $ time thunar
real 3m22.947s
user 0m0.707s
sys 0m0.167sOur router often becomes unavailable for no reason (I assume it's our funky electricity), so I often stop and restart the network and netcfg2. I don't know if it's necessary, maybe I should go back to rebooting, which is how I used to fix the problem.
Thanks, all, for your help. Now I'm going to figure out how to mark this thread as solved.

Actually, you only need the loopback interface to get thunar to work properly.
so I often stop and restart the network and netcfg2
that should be enough to get your connection back, you do not need to reboot. one more thing, sorry if i misunderstood but are you using network and netcfg2 at the same time ? why don't you just use netcfg2 only ? depending on how you use both at the same time, confusion may happen...

Same problem here but I am using networkmanager. Loopback is online but thunar still needs 30 sec to start. Not only thunar nautilus is also slow!?
Edit: Opened new Thread.
