ATI HD3850 + Xorg 7.3 (x server 1.4) + XFCE + Compiz 0.6.2 + :DCATALYST 8.02 (yesterday):D
everything is gonna be all right.. very fast animations.. just a little problem: my videos on mplayer are flashing.. do you know any patches to solve this problem?

Cool man!

For the mplayer problem, all you have to do is go into the settings and change the video setting to opengl and not xv.

So, few question:
1. Please explaine how you make it work?
2. What are your graphic adapter, the characteristics of the system?
3. You run succesfull compiz or compiz-fusion too?

..and after go to the wiki and modify the part that need to be changed ( if exist!)

I've archlinux with last updates except for compiz-core:
compiz-bcop 0.6.0-2
compiz-core 0.6.2-4
compiz-fusion-plugins-extra 0.6.0-2
compiz-fusion-plugins-main 0.6.0-3
compizconfig-backend-gconf 0.6.0-2
compizconfig-python 0.6.0.1-2
graphic adapter: Sapphire HD3850 with 256MB (even if ati driver still found only 128MB...:()
cpu: intel core 2 duo E6300@2.3Ghz
to let it work nothing special!!
new catalyst driver can work with x-server 1.4!!
I've found some options to improve performances directly on compiz-fusion forum... and I think some of them really work becouse animations are really impressive!!

I've generated pacman package from abs PKGBUILD changing pkg-ver;)

Yeah, I've gotten behind on my out-of-date packages again. I plan to take a good chunk of my Saturday or Sunday and catch up on a lot of Arch related stuff, including this update. Additional benefits - the "first openGL app is hung" bug should be gone too

any reason for "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" and "VideoOverlay" being in there twice?

tnx skioppetto! greate news

I did the same thing, used the old pkgbuild, and changed the version number, but I got a very strange graphics glitch when I ran glxgears, I just spilt its self across the screen, but didn't give a console error, or affect the average framerate. So I went back to the old driver. Any idea's on the reason for this?

a workaround for this is to disable mipmapping for the expo plugin, this also applies for other plugins such as switcher, cube etc.

I've found this tip in compiz-fusion forum:
Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "True" ->This one IS absolutely NEEDED! It shouldn't be missed!
Option "VideoOverlay" "on" -> In order to get hardware XV video playback!
I tried to turn off VideoOverlay and mplayer xv video output flashes too
I've tried to put "256" instead of "000" in MaxGARTSize but in Control Panel I still see 128MB even if in log file I get:
(--) fglrx(0): VideoRAM: 262144 kByte, Type: DDR3

mipmapping is disabled but nothing to do!

Yes, but you have those options in your Device section twice - you should probably delete the duplicates out of there to prevent confusion.

I'm sorry!! my english is not so good...... well.. this is my device section:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "fglrx"
VendorName "All"
BoardName "All"
Option "Capabilities" "0×00000000"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
Option "FSAAScale" "0"
Option "DRI" "true"
Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "True"
Option "VideoOverlay" "off"
Option "TexturedVideo" "True"
Option "TexturedVideoSync" "True"
Option "Textured2D" "True"
Option "TexturedXrender" "True"
Option "UseFastTLS" "2"

A good new: the real configured memory is 256MB even if Control Panel says 128MB -> http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthre … light=xorg

* white desktops on expo plug-in
Does not occur for me using compiz-fusion-git.
* mplayer xv video output doesn't work
* mplayer gl/gl2 video output works but whit flashing video...
The x11 video output works for me.
Or you could try this mplayer build: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … 1&ID=14304
With this one, xv works to. And it has some other neat features like the output staying inside of the window while moving it, or working transparent effects...

Latin has a good verb for this "tradunt".

Reading this, did you try
Option "OpenGLOverlay" on
?

no way with flashing video ..... the problem is not mplayer ... I've tried the same configuration on kde kaffeine and vlc and tehre's the same problem

When starting compiz-fusion I get a whitescreen, and the cube doen't work. I tested git version, same error. Still, it's an improvement over previous 8.01 driver, which would segfault... Using a Radeon Mobility X1400 (M54). Any clues on this?

probably it depends on graphic adapter... expo plugin works good on my radeon mobile x600skioppetto wrote:* mplayer xv video output doesn't work
