[SOLVED] Nvidia 8600GTS driver

Hell, I am new to Arch and was wondering how to install and what driver I need for an Nvidia 8600GTS. I am using arch64. I have the xorg installation guide but am having some trouble. I use pacman -Ss xf86-video to view the options (though shouldn't it be pacman -Sl?) and then pacman -S xf86-video-nv which is the only nvidia driver that I see on the list. Then I try a hwd -x and get an error about the video card or driver, something unknown I believe, and says to only proceed if I am sure. I say yes and when it finishes it still says it's using vesa. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks for any help.

I think you want the nvidia driver. Try "pacman -S nvidia". It's all here:

Thanks very much for the reply, that solved it. Sorry to ask such a simple question, didn't look for myself well enough I guess. Anyhow I have it working so I appreciate it.

The driver is missing in hwd's xorgtable. Post the result of 'lspci -nn' here and I will update the xorgtable.

Thanks! I have updated xorgtable.
Run 'hwd -u' and then 'hwd -s'.
