touchscreen driver ABI issues

I can get the touchscreen to work in Ubuntu but not in Arch.  Copying over the same Xorg input module "evtouch_drv.so" to the Arch partition gives the following errors:

(EE) module ABI major version (0) doesn't match the server's version (2)
(EE) Failed to load module "evtouch" (module requirement mismatch, 0)

There's only a couple of touchscreen input modules listed in PacMan and they don't seem to work with my touchscreen.

I have tried an "IgnoreABI" option but it crashes the system.

I'm not sure what server is being compared ("server's version 2")?

Any help is appreciated.
