I'm against making it sticky.  Just imagine having to wade through 'when is the iso coming out' posts from 2005...

Wouldn't it be worthwhile to do a locked Sticky pointing to some wiki articles like the arch FAQ, where this and other information are prettily formatted and readily available?

This is a good idea.  Having the most commonly requested information in a single sticky at the top of each forum should in theory help to cut down some of the repeated forum topics.  However there will always be people who don't read and post anyway.
