[SOLVED] trimming down deamons

at the mo my rc.conf reads:

DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs crond)

i messed something up and i got some weird results (i think i took out udev and autodetect?)

anyway, my question is: what do i need in here, and how do i get it back if i mess something up? adding autodetect and udev right now....

thanx!

Re: [SOLVED] trimming down deamons

normally, you don't /need/ anything here.

oh and btw, udev and autodetects look like hooks from /etc/mkinitcpio.conf

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Daemons

cool beans about putting an @ sign tongue

p.s. so bangkok_manouel, can i remove udev from /etc/mkinitcpio.conf? it takes a long time to scan... do i really need it then?

for your daemons, syslog-ng, network (net-profiles big_smile ) hal and alsa should do it as a minimum for desktop use... you may want to add a login manager as well...

definitely not something /I/ would recommend except if you know what you are doing... helps to autoload modules which is, let's say, very convenient...

Just to clarify. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong but I think you are mixing 2 different things here.
udev in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf will include udev in your kernel image:

Udev will be used to create your root device node and detect the needed modules for your root device.

The "scan" you are refering to is related to the autoloading of modules in /etc/rc.conf
