So, I'm trying to get Enlightenment set up on my new Arch box, but so far when I try to start it I get the message:
"Have you set your DISPLAY variable?"
Then I'm kicked back to my prompt. Is this a problem with my X?
I didn't have any issues like this with my Fluxbox setup or XFCE, both of which still work flawlessly.

How do you start it? If you want to start it with startx, put:
exec starte16
in your ~/.xinitrc
I assume you're talking about e16 (the enlightenment package).

Yes, I'm talking about e16. Right now I've got my xinitrc set to start Fluxbox, but would simply like to try e16 on Arch.
To start I've tried using the "enlightenment" command, as well as the the same command prefixed by "exec" as in the xinit. Both commands are returning the same results.

Did you tried that?

Solved.
I just bit it and added the enligtenment_start command to my xinitrc and the session started as normal. I figured the worst that would happen is that I would have to redit the xinit for my previous WM.
Awesome.

you ca alter the .xinitrc as much as you want.. I do it all the time.

If you're using enligtenment_start to start enlightenment, then you are using e17.
