I'm very new to arch and was trying to intall vmware server into arch on a Dell Latitude C840 notebook. I followed the VMware archlinux wiki and when I try to start vmware from the console I get the following errors. I'm running kernel 2.6.24. Any idea's?
[root@ArchNotebook rc.d]# ./xinetd restart

Did you apply the upgrades? I'm thinking maybe you didn't, since if I remember correct I got the same problem when I didn't apply the patches.

I followed the wiki and applied the vmware-any-any-update115a patch. I tried installing 4 or 5 times and I keep getting the same message when I try to run vmware. The other day I changed my fonts in accordance with the wiki at http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fon … r_LCD_in_X. I wonder if this is causing a problem as I notice one of the error messages indicates a problem with /usr/lib/libcairo.so.2.

I loaded Archlinux on another computer and installed vmware server using the same method and it installs and runs without a problem. For some reasons, it has problems running on this system. The only major difference is that I changed to fonts as mentioned above.
