Google's Summer of Code 2008

I was interested to know if Arch Devs/ Arch Users have any interest in Google's Summer of Code Program?

Summer of Code 2008

What project ideas could really benefit Arch Linux?

Re: Google's Summer of Code 2008

Yesterday I was thinking about that too.
I'm thinking in applying for a Pidgin project or something. But probably not this year since I'm starting an internship on my college soon. hmm

pacman sure could benefit from it.

I can think of a few off the top of my head...but toofishes would be the one to talk to for sure.

is there any word as to whether or not Arch is applying as a mentoring organization?

Re: Google's Summer of Code 2008

I dont think we have enough time to meet the requirements for this year.
I believe the deadline for mentoring submissions is only 4 days away.

I did speak to a few of my fellow arch devs, and we were in agreement. We would love to have done it, but none of us had the time. Maybe next year..

Re: Google's Summer of Code 2008

I would love to participate in SoC while working on an Arch project.

I wondered if Arch was included in SoC projects too; now I know the answer.
Anyway, you could take a look to Gnome or KDE ideas if you are experienced with one of these DE.
