hp-setup: cannot connect to X server :0.0
[root@archlinux-01 jada]#

The printer works, with out any problem. But still there is this message. When I start the "HP Devise Manager" I also get a "Error", No Installed HP device found. When I start "Cups Web Interface" then all works fine.

The Printer HP Deskjet 6940 works and print fine so far. Connected via ethernet over a Router, setup with static IP for the Printer.

Re: hp-setup: cannot connect to X server

A 'sudo hp-setup' command should work.

Re: hp-setup: cannot connect to X server

I think sudo alone is not enough. Try 'kdesu hp-setup' or 'gksu hp-setup' (as normal user). Otherwise look at 'man xhost'.

Re: hp-setup: cannot connect to X server

as user run
#xhost +

to allow root temporary connection to X

reboot or
#xhost -
(again issued by user, not by root)
will revert root ability to connect to X
