Just outa curiosity, how far does this extend? For instance, I figure asking for a separate patched version of the powernow_k8 module would probably deviate from the distro's motto too much, but would I be remiss in filing a bug asking for lirc to be built with the --with-transmitter option?

Perhaps it's better to look at your problem in a different way... Arch build/package management is kiss, and therefore it is *simple* for any user to customize any package if he/she doesn't like the defaults -- rather than going through a not-so-kiss procedure of trying to convince developers that a particular patch should be included by default. Just a thought... ![]()

File the bug report and see what they say. :-) They may leave that option out for a good reason, in which case you should compile your version yourself. Or they may have left it out as an oversight in which case they'll be glad to add the option.

Usually if it adds more dependencies, you'll have a harder time convincing someone to enable more features. If it generally has no effect on people who don't use the feature, and doesn't pull in more deps and doesn't make the app eat your dog and bite your fingers off, i suspect it'll just be enabled.
The suggestion box only accepts patches.

Compiling it with the needed option was no sweat, just grabbed abs and copied the PKGBUILD over. I was just wondering about bug etiquette I suppose. Thanks for the input everyone!
