I am planning on, at some point in the future, upgrading the motherboard and hard drive on my system. I have a couple of questions on this topic:
1) How well do the nForce mobo's from nVidia work with Linux?
2) How well does Linux handle being migrated to a new hard drive?
3) In both cases above, will I need to do any system reconfigurations, or will I need to backup my data and reinstall everything? And what are the risks involved, other than botching the upgrade?

1) Well. I use a nForce mobo and I've never had any problems with it.
2) Well. See this guide for example of how such a procedure might look. It's a routine operation, I've done it many times. You might have to boot using install CD on the first boot from the new HD and run mkinitcpio to regenerate kernel boot image, you might have to reinstall grub as well but that's about it as far as complications are concerned.
3) Backup is always a good idea. You shouldn't have to reinstall though.

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a … 6813188006 -- this exact mobo. I wouldn't recommend it, for various reasons, but I've no complaints as far as Linux compatibility is concerned.

Same, run an nForce5 board on ye olde desktop, works perfectly nary a problem at all.

I probably wouldn't use that model, since it's made for an AMD processor rather than an Intel processor (pentium4 is what I use).

That's actually what I was looking at getting.
