[SOLVED] Banshee banshee-0.13.2?

Repo version is banshee-0.13.1 which has an annoying bug that crashes banshee when removing a file from playlist. Upstream seems to have fixed this in banshee-0.13.2.
Is there any external repo from where I can get latest stable banshee (until core is updated) ?

There are PKGBUILDs in this thread http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=42238.

Re: [SOLVED] Banshee banshee-0.13.2?

Sorry.. but I could not find one in that thread. One of the posts points to http://www.studioindustryllc.com/user/s … e/banshee/ but apparently the packages are almost empty (1KB in size)

If you have one, can you please upload the PKGBUILD somewhere else? Thanks.

Re: [SOLVED] Banshee banshee-0.13.2?

Well, they are not empty, they contain PKGBUILDs wink

That is, not packages, but a little "scripts" with a "recipe" to create packages. Let me quickly say what to do with them, and then maybe you'd like to read wiki about AUR, PKGBUILDs, etc.

Example with http://www.studioindustryllc.com/user/s … ild.tar.gz:
1. download it
2. untar it into a temporary directory, e.g. /tmp/banshee ('mkdir /tmp/banshee' 'cd /tmp/banshee' 'tar xvf banshee-0.13.2-1-pkgbuild.tar.gz')
3. run 'makepkg' to create the actual package (this is the main step. Makepkg reads PKGBUILD, and downloads sources, compiles, and then creates the package).
4. the last step should create a file like 'banshee-0.13.2-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz'. Now just 'pacman -U banshee-0.13.2-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz'.

There are actually 4 packages you need to create this way to get the new banshee, and you need to do this above in order of dependencies (in this case, you need to do it in this order: podsleuth mono-zeroconf ipod-sharp banshee).

EDIT: You should probably have the packages in 'base-devel' group installed, since you're going to be compiling from sources.

EDIT2: If get really stuck, I can upload my x86_64 compiled packages somewhere. But you should try to compile them, it's certainly a very useful thing to understand, and know how to use.

LOL!... My bad. I failed to notice that they are infact PKGBUILDS. I thought they are compiled pkg files and was deceived by their size (1KB).
I have already compiled a few from AUR. I'll try this and post back how it all goes. Thanks.

You can also get the official Arch PKGBUILD for banshee from CVS, or by installing and running abs, and change the pkgver as required.

That will not work because the dependencies have changed. Use my packages.
