this is weird, everytime i open www.howtoforge.com, firefox (beta 3) crash.
The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 59524 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

It works here. What happens if you launch 'firefox3 http://howtoforge.com/' from the command line?

Disclaimer: This is a major shot in the dark...
There's something strange that I've been noticing on some sites including howtoforge (which I saw for the first time from your link). My video card actually makes sounds when I scroll on that site. I bring this up because I noticed the stack trace on the second and third links point to x11. Try Leigh's site and tell me if you have the same problem:

Both sites working fine for me under ff3-b3, and no weird sounds. Running nvidia card if it matters.

nVidia here too. I think that the sound is probably the fan doing small bursts. I haven't investigated yet because the sites haven't been interesting, until now...
I know of two others off the top of my head:
http://blenderartists.org/forum/
http://www.nasa.gov/
What is driving 3D hardware rendering on these sites?
Does anyone know? Leigh?
