kernel packages, what about a post update post_*() function...

...that check if lilo is used and eventually execute it?

The checking can be made seeing if exist a file tag that use lilo user should create (e.g. /etc/lilo_update.)

There is nothing more annoying than update the system, forget lilo and the next day starting the work day seeking a the archlive cd to chroot and execute lilo...

I know the lilo users are only a few, but while it is supported and the Grub error 17 haunt many users (like me) I think it is a good idea.

Post a feature request if you want. Remember, though, that we don't automate things like this, as a rule. We tell you about it, and let you do whatever is necessary to run your system.
