mplayer-plugin - anyone can use it?

Could you tell me how to use mplayer-plugin?
Or could you point me to any documentation?

This is example site with movies:

http://www.galaxydynamics.org/cosmic_cruise.html

When I click on avi this plugin just blocks firefox.

Works for me (on both avi and quicktime files) -- I didn't do anything special, just installed mplayer-plugin...  Not sure if it's relevant -- I also use mozplugger.

All files work here with nothing special done to achieve the results.

By the way, since lots of Archers are now using FF3 betas, thought it would be relevant to say that I tested with FF 2.0.0.12. I've got FF 3 installed on another machine, but didn't try that.

What's mozplugger?

I removed gxine and now at least I am able to see picture, but it still works like sh*t.
Can you rewind video with arrow keys or any buttons?
Where you stop video then play it again, is it cached?

Re: mplayer-plugin - anyone can use it?

The keyboard controls aren't working for me while the video is embedded. If you use the 'noembed=1' option in ~/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf, the video will launch in it's own window and the regular Mplayer controls will work.

As far as the cache goes, it looks like it starts over when the video is stopped then restarted. I'm not sure if this is editable or not.

What do you mean when you say it looks poopy?

What if you install gxine? Does it still work correctly?

gxine plug-in does nothing except show the start up message for me.
