Just completed my install of Arch. Everything is fresh and I'm running Gnome.
I noticed that when I launch a program (ie. terminal) it takes 10-15 seconds for the program to launch. Is this normal?
I'm running the following:
AthlonXP 3500+
2GB DDR3200
nVidia 7600GT
Gnome, Gnome Extra & Murrine, nVidia drivers functional, base system with nothing added.
Edit: I am dual-booting with LinuxMint and Mint does not have this issue, so I'm believing this is Arch-specific.

Make sure that your hostname is correctly set in /etc/hosts (i.e., that it matches the hostname in /etc/rc.conf. Have a look at "Configure the System" in The Beginner's Guide). If the hostnames do not match, applications may start up very slowly.

MUCH quicker. I must have skipped it on the install. Thanks!
