missing fonts in flash plugin

I'm having problems with flash and showing text

when i visit any website e.g. you tube
any portion of the flash player that needs a font/txt is blank

I had this problem in gentoo but the solution in gentoo was to install the ms fonts
and I've already done this and Ive no idea what to try next any ideas would be a great help

Maybe a bit late...
But I had the same problem and solved it by installing ttf-ms-fonts.

/etc/X11/xorg.conf should contain a reference to /usr/share/fonts/TTF like so:

Section "Files"
    ...
    FontPath  "/usr/share/fonts/TTF"
    ...
