I experiment since few weeks serious troubles with my computer: random hard freezes (no more keyboard, no other choice than power button)
While searching reasons i found this in kernel.log:
Mar 5 08:53:01 merlin agpgart: Found an AGP 2.0 compliant device at 0000:00:00.0.
Mar 5 08:53:01 merlin agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:00:00.0 into 4x mode
Mar 5 08:53:01 merlin agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:01:00.0 into 4x mode
Here's the result of lspci:
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8366/A/7 [Apollo KT266/A/333]
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8366/A/7 [Apollo KT266/A/333 AGP]
00:07.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Agere Systems FW323 (rev 04)

00:11.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 23)
00:11.3 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 23)
00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 40)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV44A [GeForce 6200] (rev a1)
As far as i know (not enough perhaps ), AGP is binded to graphics card, which is in 01:00, and not 00:00
So, my question is: is this message "agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:00:00.0 into 4x mode" normal ? and if not, how can i solve that ? Could it be the reason of the freezes ?
I've no idea what agpgart is for.
Thanks in advance !
