The installation of arch with a Sony Vaio pcg-N505x (and the pcmcia drive pcga-cd51) does not work; this little machine has 64 MB, a Celeron 300 MHz CPU and about 6 GB hd-capacity.
arch ide2=0x180,0x386 nopcmcia ->kernel panic (this is the damn small linux cheat-code, which works with DSL)
arch ide1=0x180,0x386 nopcmcia ->kernel panic
arch lowmem idelegacy ide2=0x180,0x386 nopcmcia ->kernel panic - not syncing: Attemted to kill the idle task
Which cheat-code do I have to use in order to install arch from the pcmcia-drive?
I like DSL, but due to the customized debian-woody programming I can't update woody nor install the programms, I would like to have. Debian Woody is no longer supported, therefore there aren't any security fixes available.

Why add the "nopcmcia" argument? I've installed Ubuntu using "ide2=0x180,0x386" successfully, so that may work in Arch as well.

I used "arch ide1=0x180, 0x386 nopcmcia acpi=off" in a PCG-Z505HS, if my memory does not fail.

Some more options I have tried:
arch lowmem idelegacy ide2=0x180,0x386 nopcmcia ->kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task
arch lowmem idelegacy ide2=0x180,0x386 ->kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task
arch lowmem ide2=0x180,0x386 acpi=off apm=off nohotplug nopcmcia ->kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task
arch ide=legacy acpi=off ide2=0x180,0x386 > kernel panic
arch acpi=force apm=off > kernel panic
arch lowmem ide2=0x180,0x386 -> kernel panic
arch lowmem ide2=0x180 -> kernel panic
arch lowmem noacpi pci=routeirq ide2=0x180 -> kernel panic
arch lowmem ide-legacy ide2=0x180,0x386 nopcmcia ->kernel panic

I´m trying to install arch in a vaio pcg-sr31k. I´m getting the kernel panic because of the missing cdrom. I could install debian with noapic nolapic ide2=0x180,0x386 parameters, the same doesn´t work with arch. Some one have the solution at this time?
Thanks.
