upgrade issues

I upgraded my system this evening and lost a few things.  Am unable to login to my user account through Slim, but it will allow me to login to root.  I can login to user through command line.

Firefox won't start in user but will run in root.

My email messages in Sylpheed all read errors "can't write to temp file"

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: upgrade issues

I looks more like you need to do a "chmod 1777 /tmp".

Re: upgrade issues

I checked both of these items with no luck. I also rolled back the kernel to the last one used.  Also no help.
I tried to start some of the problem programs and most of them all get an error about an inability to write to the tmp file ie "/tmp/orbit-user or /tmp/mc-user or just the tmp file.  Sylpheed reads "no space left on device" and does not list any contents of emails.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks again.

Re: upgrade issues

Thanks for all of your help---- just mark me as moron!!  I had downloaded several old movies and then upgraded and ran out of room on my partition.  Moved the movies elsewhere and eureka! everything is back to normal. Lesson learned.
