sound problem

In my mobo Asus A8V-VM which has AD1986 on board sound card I have added another Cirrus Logic CS 4281 PCI sound card.

While configuring alsa to use CS 4281 I get AD1986 only in spite of repeatedly running alsaconf.

How to overcome this ?

"ilikepudding" posted a reply that might just solve your problem. (involves editing /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf to activate the right sound card)
