Compiz -- No shadows with new kernel?

I know there have been random posts about this, but I was wondering if anybody has had any updates, since nobody has said anything for a few weeks.

Basically speaking, I have the problem where nVidia 169.12 + 2.6.24 = no shadows or, occasionally, off-color, faint shadows that you can barely see.  All other aspects of Compiz work just fine--and in fact, the shadows worked fine a few weeks ago when I had 64-bit Arch installed.  However, I got tired of the hassle that was Java et al., and switched to 32-bit.  However, like I said, I have yet to see any shadows at all.  All other window decorations work--just not shadows.

Direct rendering, etc., is all working... hardware acceleration is not the issue.

I've recompiled the kernel, used both the Thinkpad kernel (kernel26tp) and the Zen kernel (kernel26-zen), but I still have the same problem.  Does anybody have a solution?

EDIT: Added my xorg.conf config file, for what its worth...

Re: Compiz -- No shadows with new kernel?

Isn't that related to Compiz instead of NVidia or Kernel? It's mostly related to Compiz, if you can get similar effects using, e.g., "xcompmgr -c".

Re: Compiz -- No shadows with new kernel?

I would think so, but from the posts I've read on the NVNews forums and what not, Arch seems to be the common factor--which is strange.  In fact, all the original posters who have had this problem have all stated Arch as their distro.

And yes, I get shadows using xcompmgr... however, I would really like the additional plugins that Compiz has to offer....

Re: Compiz -- No shadows with new kernel?

Sorry to double-post, but here are just a few posts--the last one is exactly the same problem, and neither the OP or I have found any solutions. sad
