(SOLVED) Cant save any file with OpenOffice.org-2.3.1 unless root

I seem to have problem with OpenOffice.org-2.3.1...
I am using the latest arch x86_64 (installed it tonight) so I know everything is up to date.
I installed openoffice as described in the wiki, and i set:  export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome in /etc/profiles.
Basically I can run the program as a user and it seems to work but when I want to save a document after naming the file, selecting the extension, and clicking the save button a dialog box appears with the following:

"Error saving the document test-document: Error writing file."

It seems to work fine as root, so I am thinking I have a permission problem or maybe I need to add my user name to another group. I just don't know where to start, which group or what permissions should I change or add??? Should the wiki be updated with more information or did I screw something up?

Thanks!

UPDATE:  The permissions /tmp were set to root read/write, I changed it so "other" users can read/write and its all good. As I am the only user on this computer I don't see any harm with that...
