[GNOME] 2.20.0 : how much time before it goes on testing ?

Hello.

I wasn't an arch linux user before christmas 2007, so I missed Gnome 2.18.x -> 2.20.x

As today tarballs will be released (see http://live.gnome.org/TwoPointTwentyone ), I wonder how much time it will take to get packages in testing for both i686 and x86_64 (which I'm using for around a year now).

Also, will it be painful to upgrade my old Gnome 2.20.3 install with 2.22.0 ? I'm thinking of the sad pulseaudio software.

Thanks for your kind answers.

Have a good day.

Your post is very confusing, melting 2.20.0 with 2.22.0 !
Anyway, I suppose you are talking about 2.22.0 ...

Gnome 2.22.0 has not been released, so there is no point at expecting it into Arch's testing repository.
Arch's testing repository is not a place for upstream development releases. It is a place where upstream STABLE releases are placed before going into core or extra repositories, after a short period of testing by the community to ensure a good stability of the whole system.

I hope it helped.

It's possible to view any developer discussion here:  http://archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/.

Sorry !!!! It is a little disturbing, indeed !

It will be released on wednesday, so I was wondering. Is it that bad ? mad

I used testing on my old pc, but not anymore on my laptop.

I hope it helped.

Not a lot. I just wonder how many days we will have to wait since official release day to see packages to be tested.

/me asks too big, maybe...

And about not released software, what about OpenOffice.org 2.4.0 rc packages in testing ?!

Just asking, of course wink

I doubt you're going to see the packages in testing before Wednesday, simply because that's the official release day.  Even still, I wouldn't look for them for a few days.  Patience is key, but there's usually not a terrible lag between release and packages.

This is what I was asking for in the first time. A week could be realistic, even if Ubuntu Hardy post-alpha6 gets a part of Gnome 2.22.0 today wink
