[Skype] Microphone not working

Good evening!

I have installed and configured Skype correctly, according to the wiki page for the program. I am currently using ALSA, so I tried the alsa-oss-solution. Upon starting Sykpe with the command ALSA_OSS_PCM_DEVICE="skype" aoss skype, I get error messages of the following pattern:

[ishina@celestary ~]$ ALSA_OSS_PCM_DEVICE="skype" aoss skype
ALSA lib control.c:909:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL skype
ALSA lib pcm_dsnoop.c:497:(snd_pcm_dsnoop_open) The dsnoop plugin supports only capture stream
ALSA lib control.c:909:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL skypein
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:805:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) The dmix plugin supports only playback stream
ALSA lib control.c:909:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL skypeout
ALSA lib pcm_dsnoop.c:497:(snd_pcm_dsnoop_open) The dsnoop plugin supports only capture stream
ALSA lib control.c:909:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL skypedsnoop
ALSA lib control.c:909:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL asymed

It seems as if the settings in my ~/.asoundrc are either corrupt or not working. I am using the utmost current version of Skype, according to the repositories.

[ishina@celestary ~]$ pacman -Ss skype
community/skype 2.0.0.43-1
P2P software for high-quality voice communication

I do not care for the error messages in particular, but the audio input does not seem to work. I have specified "Default Device" as both my device for input and output, setting it to specific mixers leaves me with error messages about non-working in- or output (or both). The microphone and audio input works, tested with Audacity.

Has anyone else run into similar issues and knows how to help me out? It would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance, regards
~cg

Re: [Skype] Microphone not working

Skype 2 should work with ALSA natively (without oss compat).

Re: [Skype] Microphone not working

just play with alsamixer. i needed to switch the Digital column from analog which is my jack input for mic to digital which is my microphone embeded into monitor.
also you can pres tab to switch to Capture and press space to select a source.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: [Skype] Microphone not working

Thanks wonder that seems to have worked

but the very fact that the microphone used to work with skype before means that something is changing the alsamixer settings back to analog
