Tor breaks on libevent upgrade (again) - What would you do?

Hi all!

I'm quite new to Arch and very new to Forums of any sort! smile

After the recent libevent upgrade (libevent-1.3e-1), Tor fails to start and produces the following error:

tor: error while loading shared libraries: libevent-1.3d.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Since I had libevent-1.3d-2 sitting around, I resolved this by simply downgrading thus:

sudo pacman -U libevent-1.3d-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz

My question is what is the best way to resolve the breakage? Should I really build tor from source against the new libevent?

Cheers!

That's the way. At least if you don't want to wait for the official update.
Symlinking the new libevent.so to the one needed by tor may also work (but is kinda ugly)
