Recovering from an upgrade to the newest kernel that didn't like my snd-hda-intel. Am now back with a 2.6.23 kernel, and have sound at the command line, when kde starts, in firefox at youtube. However, as soon as I start mythtv, there is no sound at all. I can get some sound by increasing the volume of my line in using alsamixer, but this is sound that is not processing through the card, bad quality, and out of sync with the video.
There seemed to be some issue with kde resetting my asound.state file. I would set it up, go into kde, find no sound, come back out to the command line, and find my mixer levels all screwed up. I'm not sure that that issue has gone away, and have no idea what might cause it, but currently the sound in kde remains ok.
I have a pvr350 and a pchdtv5500 in the box as capture cards.
I am stumped.:(
