[SOLVED] Running openoffice

I have just installed open-office, but i can't figure out how to run it! So much for no stupid questions smile. Im presuming openoffice-base is everything, as i cant find any other packages to do with it (apart from language and spellchecker packages).

Ive tried things like ooffice, openoffice, open-office, but i just cant find it smile

Re: [SOLVED] Running openoffice

soffice

wink

I know it's a little weird, not sure why they don't make that more intuitive. you could make a symlink I guess, if you wanted to bother, in case you forgot again.

>edit: just checking, and I think swriter used to open directly to the word program, and s(whatever) to the other modules, but it no longer seems to. So I'm not sure what the OO people are thinking. Making stuff harder to find/use doesn't seem to be the right way to go, but i'm not the one developing it. tongue

OpenOffice started out as StarOffice, which was "opensourced" by Sun. Sun still makes a commercial version of StarOffice, but the whole soffice thing was left in OpenOffice from those days.
