I made the generic mistake of setting up everything root. So I am having to redo my laptop.... next week. I like enlightenment but I still need to learn it better so I am going to use kde as well.
How do I set up so that I can choose from multiple enviroment at boot?
Also, how do I know if everything is set up right? I have a laptop what about power management? I feel that although I have installed everything and everything works that I may be missing things?
Sigh -- I will say this that setting up my laptop this way has been a learning experience, actually quite enjoyable, and I like the arch way.
The package management and the aur are superb but the installation and configuration leave me scratching my head wondering if I did everything right, or if I am missing out on things?

the easiest way is to use a login in screen like kdm/gdm from there you choose which session you want.

as far as this goes, you will have to set up what you need. in kde there is a power management section in the control center that can set up all the various options.

after the installation you have the base system, from there you can install whatever you want/need...xorg, kde, enlightenment, so on and so forth... anything needed for those things to work will be pulled in as dependencies so you shouldnt worry that something is missing.
hope this helps at least as a starting point

When you install other DE/WM, they will appear in Entrance automatically. Click on the the 'Enlightenment' button and a menu will appear that gives you access to what you have installed.

What do you mean "everything root", exactly? Did you follow the Beginner's Guide ? Did you add a non-root user, per the guide?

yea, I created a user, but I forgot to log in as that user. Stupid mistake, my mistake, I searched the forums and found that I am not the only one who has, so at least I am not the only one ![]()

For laptop power management:
pacman -S acpid laptop-mode-tools pm-utils cpufrequtilshttp://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cpufrequtils

EDIT: Also check out yaourt (available in the AUR). You will love it. It's a wrapper for pacman to seamlessly access, compile and install the [unsupported] PKGBUILDs.
