Re: [solved]CUPS problem

You may need a more specific ppd file and point cups to that:  Try here: http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/d … xmark+Z615

Re: [solved]CUPS problem

i just finished trying that link, i sowloaded and uncomppressed the shell script, but when i ran it as a normal user or root, it gave the following.

[danny@archlinux ~]$ cd /home/danny/Downloads/
[danny@archlinux Downloads]$ sh z600cups-1.0-1.gz.sh
Verifying archive integrity...OK
Uncompressing Lexmark Printer Drivertrap: usage: trap [-lp] [arg signal_spec ...]

Re: [solved]CUPS problem

i still cant figure this out! ive tried all the driver options, and found a driver on the lexmark site for the z600 series, installed it, but it give a strange error below.

/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertoz600 failed

the closest i came almost prints, then stops the paper just before ink would b put on, then stays there 4 5 mins, then spits the paper out!! i used the Lexmark Z12 Foomatic/lxm3200-tweaked (recommended) driver for that.

any ideas?

Re: [solved]CUPS problem

Not the best solution, but maybe pick up a better printer than Lexmark, god those are awful!

I'd google you printer and add linux or cups or something like that, but if all of the pdd files you are trying don't work its probably a lost cause :-/

Re: [solved]CUPS problem

I agree about the Lexmark comment.

Until then, follow the Gentoo wiki on Lexmark printers.
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Lexmark_Printers

You could also download the Mac file, find a way to extract the ppd from the hqx file, edit the ppd to work with Linux. But the Gentoo wiki might be easier.
