Font help, please - what have I screwed up?

I'm apparently doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is.  Despite following all of the instructions I can find in the wiki and in the forums, I can't seem to get my fonts to look right under KDE when using certain gnome apps.  Cinelerra is the worst offender, and the best example.  Here's a screenshot of what I believe it is supposed to look like, based on my experiences with it under Fedora 8 and KDE (the screenshot was taken under CentOS 5.1 and gnome):

Now, here's what I get when I try to run it under Arch, in both KDE and gnome modes:

The difference in the fonts used inside the program windows should be instantly apparent.  Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?  I've got the GTK Styles and Fonts control installed and configured properly.  What would you need from me to help debug this???

Re: Font help, please - what have I screwed up?

I don't know what the problem is -- it looks like a different font is used in each case, that's all.  Also, Arch (second screenshot) seems much nicer to me!

EDIT: To make this post more helpful... You could look in /etc/fonts/conf.d directory on each system and see what config files are linked in each...  Perhaps you'll need to remove 30-replace-bitmap-fonts.conf from your Arch configuration or something like that to achieve the same effect as on the other system.

I don't use KDE, but I will offer some stabs in the dark:

pacman -S gtk-theme-switch2 gtk-theme-switch

I'm sure you can figure out "pacman -Ql blah" and the commands "switch" and "switch2" yourself.
