[SOLVED]i810 / old Dell

Hi,

hwd detects i810 as gfx card driver which is correct, but after starting xorg i only see weird colors all over the screen, ctrl+alt+f1 doesnt work nor does ctrl+alt+backspace


This is a pre-release version of the X server from The X.Org Foundation.

Referenced in http://freenet-homepage.de/obauer/ it appears to do with the kernel module.

Apparently it helps to disable DRI and wait for another kernel upgrade.
I've also seen this error mentioned in other context during the day so I'd guess it's a fairly recent occurance.

Anyways, if you don't feel like waiting the error that occurs is related to this part of your error log:

Error in I810WaitLpRing(), now is 210440, start is 208439

Disabling dri is a solution for me:

In section "Device"
Option "DRI" "False"

ive also commected the line Load "dri" in section Module, but thats probably not necessery.
