Opera 5.0 beta just got better...

I had tried the Opera 5.0 beta because someone had mentioned that it fixed the problems with flash stuff working in more than one tab... anyway, it did for me so I started using it on all my computers. But soon found a couple of little things that didn't work right, so reverted to the stable opera package on all but one of my systems.  We after updating that system today, which included an update of the Opera beta, those little things are fixed and working...

What little things:
1) the "Find in page" search box would not work right, it would find the fist letter entered, but then make the main content active, instead of leaving the "Find in page" search box active. So if I typed in "arch" it would only search for "a" because the "rch" was not being typed in the search box.
2) when clicking on a like that opened a new URL but displayed a page link lower down on the page, it would not goto that page link lower down. For example in the forums when click  [ new posts ], it would load the topic, but not take you to the first new post.

Anyway, that was enough for me to drop the beta and use Firefox when using flash heavy stuff in more than one tab...  But now all works great again.

Note: To try the beta uncomment the Unstable repository in your /etc/pacman.conf then install opera-devel. "pacman -S opera-devel"

Some of the bugs were mentioned and fixed on later builds I think
You can check on the development and changelogs on their blog.

Edit: sorry I think I might've misread your post as you mentioned they all worked great again smile

http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/ as Sole said.
Latest version is build 1887. The AUR opera-devel package is out of date, but you can alter the PKGBUILD to use the latest Opera build.

Isn't the PKGBUILD in ABS up to date?

Yeah, but there's just a static qt4 build of the beta--no shared build like with qt3. Not really sure on the reasons behind it.

I noticed that someone updated the one I use in the Unstable repository, it now shows 1887.

So Thanks for the update!

The (static) Qt4 version is available in AUR, see http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15228 for more details.

everyone who uses this, should start opera with "opera -style plastique" or whatever themes come with it... makes it look more qt4'ish smile
