Pidgin 101% CPU ?

I'm posting here due to the "no stupid questions" rule. wink

I'm puzzled. Yesterday it happened the first time to me that pidgin would use 101% CPU (I've a DualCore CPU), not react to anything but kill -9 (normal kill wouldn't work) and the windows would misdisplay: the input fields and the contact list would be a white square and the rest in a uniform grey.

The first time I had only Opera opened and it suddenly freezed while chatting with a friend. Today my system was under load for hours (qemu) and Opera was opened, too. Oh, today I got a disconnect from google talk, too, shortly before it freezed. This is something which happened a couple of times in the last days, but my internet connection has sometimes short disconnects, so I wasn't worried at first. I'm connected to google talk, icq and msn; msn and icq didn't lose their connection.

Anyone experienced something similar with pidgin?

I'm not aware of any changes to pidgin itself (it was installed 21. march and no changes since then according to pacman.log), so it must be something else. I don't know enough to file a bug report, that's why I ask here.

My system: Arch64 -Syu'd today, xmonad, intel 945gm with os-intel driver

Re: Pidgin 101% CPU ?

Did you install or upgrade anything yesterday or the day before?  This week?

Re: Pidgin 101% CPU ?

It's been a while but I've experienced recently similar problem with pidgin. Well… not exactly—it was 100% CPU (sine I've got single core old Athlon XP wink). It is with current pidgin from [extra] (2.5.2 at the time of writing I think). Moreover it spawns multitude of processes as it goes.

Re: Pidgin 101% CPU ?

Its working fine here (pidgin 2.5.2-1)
No multiple processes or lots of cpu usage.

interresting… I'll move to checking it without previous config… (I'm not sure about it right now)
