Skype - Problem with audio playback

I am having trouble getting my onboard microphone to work. I have a HP 6910p, with the standard Alsa install, the speakers and headphone jack worked perfectly, but not the microphone, so I cannot use skype.

# lspci | grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

I can use ekiga-VoIP and this works perfectly.

Sounds like skype may be trying to use the wrong device. I'm not familiar with ekiga, but see if you can find out which channel it is using for mic, and set that in Skypes sound device settings.
