KDE hangs at "starting system services" after I updated

When my GDM appears, I try to start KDE. Now my KDE hangs minutes at "starting system services" and then I only see a black screen.
I've just did an update on my Arch Linux system.

This is what /home/pieterjan/.xsession-errors is saying:

/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
Warning: Only changing the first 20 of 32 buttons.
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Setup done, will execute: /usr/bin/ssh-agent -- /opt/kde/bin/startkde
Agent pid 3682
xset: bad font path element (#422), possible causes are:
Directory does not exist or has wrong permissions
    Directory missing fonts.dir
Incorrect font server address or syntax
startkde: Starting up...

Hmm? Something about fonts.dir?

4 root@archlinux $ find . -name fonts.dir
./opt/kde/share/apps/konsole/fonts/fonts.dir
./opt/kde/share/fonts/override/fonts.dir
./opt/java/jre/lib/fonts/fonts.dir
./opt/java/jre/lib/oblique-fonts/fonts.dir
./usr/share/fonts/cyrillic/fonts.dir
./usr/share/fonts/misc/fonts.dir
./usr/share/fonts/Type1/fonts.dir
./usr/share/fonts/speedo/fonts.dir
./usr/share/fonts/75dpi/fonts.dir
./usr/share/fonts/100dpi/fonts.dir
./usr/share/fonts/TTF/fonts.dir
./usr/share/fonts/OTF/fonts.dir
./usr/share/icewm/themes/Infadel2/fonts.dir
./home/pieterjan/.gnome2/share/cursor-fonts/fonts.dir
./home/pieterjan/.gnome2/share/fonts/fonts.dir

And this is what I get when I try the startkde command

3 pieterjan@archlinux $ startkde -v
Agent pid 3986
xset: bad font path element (#422), possible causes are:
Directory does not exist or has wrong permissions
    Directory missing fonts.dir
Incorrect font server address or syntax
startkde: Starting up...

ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 3865, errno = 32

My ld.so.conf looks okay:

1 root@archlinux $ cat /etc/ld.so.conf
#
# /etc/ld.so.conf
#

/usr/X11R6/lib

# End of file
/usr/lib/libfakeroot
/opt/qt/lib
/opt/kde/lib

Something I also see screens which contains "could not start kmserver" .. or "could not start kdeinit"

I guess my last update (which included a new nvidia driver) has caused harm to some file permissions or libraries ... I also have tried to log in with a different user.

Although I've noticed different messages in my .xession-errors file:

13 root@archlinux $ cat .xsession-errors
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...

How could I fix this?

Re: KDE hangs at "starting system services" after I updated

check that your hostname is properly se tup (/etc/hosts and rc.conf) and that your loopback interface is coming up correctly
