Hi folks,
Archlinux 86-64 2007-08-2
Gnome desktop
Having spent an hour installing the captioned printer without success. Steps performed as follows;
Install cups-pdf and system-config-printer
$ sudo system-config-printer
starts "printer configuration - localhost" window
-> New Printer -> highlight "CUPS-PDF" -> Enter device URI [cups-pdf://localhost] -> check "Select Printer from Database" and highlight "Generic" -> Forward -> Model-highlight "ESC/P Dot Matrix Printer and Driver-highlight "Generic ESC/P Dot Matcix Printer Foomatic/eps9high (recommended) -> Forward -> Printer Name "ESC_P_Dot_Matrix_Printer" and Description "PDF_Printer" -> Apply -> Password required
Here I can't find a password to satisfy it. Then I started searching the whole World. Some searching results suggest installing;
- gnome-keyring
- gnome-keyring-manager
After installing them.
System -> Administration -> Keyring Manager
starting "Keyring name and password required" window
Keyring name: satimis_localhost
Password: mypass
-> Create Keying
Then on "session Keyring" window following data displayed
Locked Keyring Lock on Idle Lock Timeout
icon satimis_localhost [] 0 seconds
icon session [] 0 seconds
I can't check the box there. But still the password created can't satisfy it.
Please shed me some light how to proceed. TIA

Thanks for your advice.
I got the PDF virtual printer installed already. But the file printed is saved on /var/spool/cups-pdf/satimis/abc.pdf
Any advice how to change its path to /home/satimis? TIA
Edit:
Any way to set the printer asking for filename before printing?

Must of missed the pacman log
/etc/cups/cups-pdf.conf
It's well documented, should be easy to figure out.
Out /home/${USER}

Edit /etc/cups/cups-pdf.conf
Add following line on "Path Settings" section
Out /home/${USER}
$ sudo /etc/rc.d/cups restart
:: Stopping CUPS Daemon [DONE]
:: Starting CUPS Daemon [DONE]
Done. Thanks
