Switched to Arch completely... for now.

I've just replaced Ubuntu with Arch on my laptop and got everything working as it should be. I've been running Arch on my desktop for a few days, and liked it more than Ubuntu so I decided to go for it. For some reason the only media player that plays files off of my usb harddrive is VLC, but that's not too much of a problem.

I'm liking it

I say 'for now' because I have a few distro's in my list to try. Zenwalk, Debian, and Gentoo, to name a few. A friend suggested Slackware, so I'll also be looking at that. I have tried Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, and Arch is my favourite so far. Pacman annoyed the hell out of me originally (-Syu = 'sync & upgrade'? Who thought that up?), but now I'm used to it.

I was using Gentoo for a while before Arch. Tried Debian before switching over. Though I have a friend that praises ZenWalk highly.

I made the switch last December after a few days of testing. I was also an Ubuntu user but I felt too restricted by it, it didn't seem like I was learning anything about Linux by using it and

I went home from college for winter break and spent the first 10 days just relaxing, downloading, and installing Arch on my laptop. I used it basically exclusively for 8 days, at which point I declared it my new official distro, and after break installed it on my desktop.

The "sync & upgrade" thing got me for a while to, but after you get used to it, pacman is a well-organized little critter.

im kind look at slackware like a distro...for old people ..great distro..few..very few packages....gnome is a bit problm..there is some side projects...but u never know when they will end up...hoo well unless u try ull never know..
