udev socket problem [solved]

trying to compile the 2.6.24.4 kernel with gcc4.3. had problems and added -fno-tree-scev-cprop to the cflags section on the makefile. seemed like it compiled fine. go to boot and get to   loading initramfs   running hook[udev]   loading udev...error initializing udevd socket  any suggestions

figured it out. i had made the unix domain socket a module instead of building it in the kernel. fix that and all is well
