OpenOffice going sluggish after 3rd window

Hi everyone,

I have OOo installed on my laptop Dell C640, 1,8 Mhz, 256 RAM, video ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 integrated. I work explicitly with word processing and I'm using OOo's Writer. The problem is that when I open 3 or more windows (documents) with Writer, the 3rd and on windows are drawn very sluggish, and when I type, the letters appear few seconds after the button is pressed. When I go back to the first and the second opened windows, the work is as normal. What could be the problem?? I have set OOo to use 128 mb for video ram, 1mb per object, the Java is turned on (it's the same with turned off)

I have installed the ATI drivers and the 3D is working fine, 3d games are with good speed.So what could be the problem?? OOo is update to the last available package version (OOo 2.4). With lesser version of OOo it is the same "defect".

Does anyone have similar issues?

WHat are you using for a window manager?  ANything special or just basic gnome and X?  256 seems like an awful little amount to me.

My guess is memory limits too.  Does you system start using swap around about the same time?
