Hi all,
After yesterday's system upgrade I can't start Azureus. I had version 3.0.4.2 installed and I upgraded it to 3.0.5.0 but it didn't solve my problem.
I tried Azureus from terminal and I don't get any errors, the messages at terminal window end with:
Core Initializing took 1145ms
Core: 226ms for Initializing Plugin: aznetstat
Core: 37ms for ??????? ????????? : safepeer
new shell took 213msthe splash screen starts, messages pass at the bottom, the bar if filling up but when it comes to Initializing main Window it stops and stays there.
ANY ideas??
thanks

I'm using ktorrent right now until I find out a solution to the problem. However I'm used to azureus for a long time now and it works for me great.

Same happens here and I still cannot find the reason for the problem, it just hangs...

azureus is a java app so make sure you have the latest java installed on you system. pacman -S jre

Java is the latest, 6 update 5. I cannot track what exactly is causing it to hang, but I will try and tell you if I find something.

ok, the only strange thing I see in terminal is:
Browser check failed with: No more handles [Unknown Mozilla path (MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME not set)], InvocationTargetException
Auto-scanning for GRE/XULRunner. You can skip this by appending the GRE path to LD_LIBRARY_PATH and setting MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME.
checking /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.13 for GRE
GRE found at /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.13.
Browser check failed with: XPCOM error -2147467259, InvocationTargetException
Can't create browser. Will try to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH and hope Azureus has better luck.
setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to: /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.13
setting MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to: /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.13then it just hangs at "initializing UI elements"

Downgrade firefox to 2.0.0.12, this realy solved.

Thanks dikamilo. That really did solve it!

I've found out that the problem is not Firefox, it's Arch's custom Firefox. If you use the official Firefox binary version Azureus will not crash. You can find the PKGBUILD here: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15323
Hope it helps...

I had this issue. Don't use firefox, vanilla azureus works fine with xulrunner package.
In startup script, set MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to "/usr/lib/xulrunner".

You won't get the error if you are running firefox3 either. And you get the advantage of an alot faster browser with better looking fonts too
(hint, firefox-spookyet and firefox3-systemcairo)
