Spring Clean,...

Hi,

Ok its Spring! and time to clean up your system :-)

Backup your system is the first thing to do!!!!!

at the moment I have 722 pkgs installed [oops!]

Post your system management tips here please ... then I will transfer to Wiki

Make sure you check all those .<files> on your system, logs, pacman cache

1: pacman -Rcsn all the unneeded packages
2: pacman -Syu
3: pacman -Scc
4: pacman-optimize
5: sync
6: pacdiffviewer
7: rm -r /var/log/* <-- this seems to make some programs break, that need their dir in logs
8: rm -r /tmp/*
9: check ~ manually delete and organize
10: kleansweep

11: rdiff-backup /etc and ~ to another pc.

You could do this thing too: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45939
and find out what files aren't controlled by pacman, possibly cleaning some of them up.
