Interesting multiprotocol IM project: Galaxium Messenger

For anyone looking for alternatives to Pidgin, I have just discovered this.

It looks promising even though I haven't had the time to actually try it. No time to create a PKGBUILD right now. Also, I'm trying to make a definitive switch to Jabber only.

Anyway, I thought it might interest some people over here wink

Here are some features and planned features:

Available Features:

    * Contact List Management
    * Personalized content (Display Pictures, Personal Messages, Custom Emoticons)
    * Indirect File Transfers (MSN)
    * Direct File Transfers (Jabber wo/NAT only)
    * MSN and Jabber (+GTalk) Session Support
    * MSN communication with Yahoo contacts
    * MSN over HTTP protocol
    * Adium Theme Support
    * GStreamer Audio Support
    * Group Chat
    * Offline Messaging (MSN)
    * Roaming Profiles (MSN)

In-Progress Features:

    * IRC Session Support
    * Conversation History Tracking
    * Direct File Transfers (MSN, Jabber w/NAT, IRC)
    * Audio/Video Conversations
    * NAT Traversal through uPNP Routers

Planned Features:

    * AIM/ICQ and Yahoo Session Support
    * Integration with music players like Banshee, Rhythmbox, etc.
    * Integration with the GNOME desktop, nautilus, etc.

Re: Interesting multiprotocol IM project: Galaxium Messenger

I wrote a PKGBUILD for this not too long ago, because I too thought it looked promising.  Unfortunately it depends on mono which is a rather large dependency I try to keep off my system for just one or two apps.

Anyway if your interested the PKGBUILD for Galaxium I wrote is http://zeqadious.homelinux.net/arch-lin … m/PKGBUILD
and the PKGBUILD for libcommon (which is required) is http://zeqadious.homelinux.net/arch-lin … n/PKGBUILD

Good Luck

It's kinda heavy - relies on Mono and Gecko. But looks good, comes packed with a lot of features and promissing future features.

I've already published a PKGBUILD for both libcommon and galaxium to AUR.
