I just noticed that the xpdf package depends on gcc. This seems odd to me, so I tried without it:
get the other dependencies normally:
pacman -S lesstif t1lib gsfontsthen xpdf without gcc:
pacman -Sd xpdfAFAICT, xpdf works just fine like this (although I have no printers, so I have not tested printing). So I have to ask... does anyone know why xpdf depends on gcc?

File a bug report ![]()
It should depend on gcc-libs instead of gcc

gcc wasnt a splitted package not too long ago. imo it still shouldnt . some apps still depend on it as there has been no reason yet to change the PKGBUILd to include the change.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Ah, that would explain why it works for me... I do have gcc-libs installed.

by the way installing all the dependencies explicitly will not remove them eg. in the future is you stop using xpdf & probably nor show up as orphans.
i recommend installing with -S --asdeps next time
